Upcoming Trips

We are so excited to share our plans for trips that will be underway in 2026!

April  2026

Namibia

April of 2026 will send us in Namibia working with the Save the Rhino Trust.  Save the Rhino Trust’s mission is conservation of the land, communities and wildlife; with focus on protecting the desert-adapted black rhino, in a large area of Namibia (Save the Rhino Trust, 2024).  We could easily fit two of our small New England states into this conserved area. This organization protects the rhino’s habitat and increases the livelihood of the communities through sustainable eco-tourism.

Terrie will join this incredible organization for their Wildlife Ranger Welfare checks.  Close to 100 Rangers will rotate through for two day intervals. Physical and mental health doctors will be evaluating each ranger and we will also be meeting each one to measure and offer corrective eyeglasses.  These welfare checks are fairly new and checking eyesight is a first.  What an honor to join this team.

April/May 2026

We will stay in Namibia for visits with the Conservation Travel Foundation.  This organization supports the indigenous Namibians living on the conservation land.  This land is also where many safaris make one or two overnight stops, and the landscape is absolutely majestic.  The local people are custodians of the land, and also our hosts at the lodges located within this protected area.  This Foundation is effectively funded by Ultimate Safaris, through a percentage of their travel-funded revenue.  Supporting this land is similar to if we, in the U.S., ‘gave’ our national parks to the local native Americans to tend the land and all it holds, and also host travelers.  It is a beautiful combination and we are, once again, honored to add value to the lives of these native people.

Terrie will be ‘handed off’ from the Save the Rhino Trust leaders to the Conservation Travel Foundation personnel.  From there she will visit the three main base areas and round out the trip visiting the school located on the conserved land.

May 2026

Bali

In May of 2026 we are welcomed to Bali.  In Bali we will be offering corrective vision care to students of all ages, located in the Karagnasem Region, on the east coast of the island.  In collaboration with the Suwandi Foundation, we have wonderful support working with this community.   This foundation was born and has flourished from love of this beautiful corner of Bali.  They are teaching English to the children to give this next generation a better future, in hopes to break the cycle of poverty (Suwandi Foundation, 2024).  Global educators and service providers rotate in through special programs to focus on these children; to give them the tools and inspiration for a better life.  Offering corrective eyewear to this next generation, and likely their family members too, is also a first for this region.
